Day 2 - Loading

April 26, 1998 - Beaverton, Oregon. Truck loaded, pretty much, all 20 feet of cargo space and not quite enough. Denice and the kids came back as did Deb and Jordan and we missed Newel and Saveth and Thida and Chippo and Solida and Nicola. We did talk on the phone, tired, emotionally spent, nervous, excited and anticipating tomorrow. Gifts are exchanged and I love you, No crying, farewells without good byes. Perspective is a gift. Seeing what we are doing and where we are going while we are doing it is not always easy. The depth of connections are often only known in separations. We can't tell the animals what we are doing and I don't want to include dumb pictures of our stuff being loading into a truck. Wasn't even much time for taking pictures. Ophelia seemed to catch the mood of the day though.

Ophelia in Wendy's room

We sleep in the collective bedding on the living room floor - all of us - people, cats, dogs and some unwanted carpenter ants. I remember Wendy, who learned today how to use a handtruck and who focused her energy and moved a mountain of boxes endlessly up the ramp of the truck and Teddy teaching Simon how to handle a heavy stack of boxes and the boom boxes moving everywhere in the house and never being loaded on the truck until the very end.
